THE WEIGHT OF TIME

description
The Weight of Time explores the slow forces that shape both natural landscapes and industrial material. Part of Ian Houghton’s Strata Studies series, the sculpture uses layered and compressed steel forms to suggest geological pressure, erosion, accumulation, and the passage of time. Its substantial scale gives the work a grounded presence, while the shifting forms create movement and invite discovery from different viewpoints. Created by Colorado sculptor Ian Houghton, this large scale contemporary steel sculpture reflects an ongoing fascination with transforming rigid metal into forms that feel organic, weathered, and shaped by forces far greater than themselves.
