PRESSURE LANGUAGE NO. 4

description
Pressure Language No. 4 explores the expressive potential of stainless steel through heat, pressure, and transformation. Part of Ian Houghton’s Compression Studies series, the sculpture begins with dense industrial steel that is physically compressed and reshaped, allowing folds, curves, and subtle irregularities to emerge from the force of the process. The polished stainless steel surface catches changing light and reflections, giving the monumental form an unexpected sense of movement and fluidity. Created by Denver based sculptor Ian Houghton, this contemporary abstract metal sculpture reflects an ongoing fascination with transforming rigid material into something organic, energetic, and distinctly alive.
