Skylights explores the balance between weight, openness, and changing light. Forged steel rises with a strong architectural presence, while carefully placed openings allow sunlight to pass through the form, casting shifting patterns and shadows throughout the day. The contrast between dense steel and negative space gives the sculpture an unexpected sense of lightness and movement. Created from steel and concrete by Denver based sculptor Ian Houghton, this contemporary forged steel sculpture reflects his ongoing interest in transforming heavy industrial materials into expressive, organic forms that respond to their surroundings.
