STRATA ASCENDANT

Strata Ascendant draws from the immense geological forces that lift, fracture, and reshape layers of the earth. Rising steel forms create a sense of upward movement, as though compressed material is being pushed from below and captured in the middle of transformation. The sculpture balances substantial industrial steel with an organic quality inspired by rock formations, tectonic movement, and exposed strata. Created by Denver based artist Ian Houghton, this large scale contemporary steel sculpture brings together modern metal fabrication and nature inspired abstraction, creating a bold sculptural presence that changes as it is viewed from different angles.
